Blue Apple Players is currently hiring actors for a unique role-play training team that works with Child Protective Service Workers.

We are looking for actors (male or female) who are comfortable with role-play/improvisation and are willing to engage in serious subject matter. Actors will be trained to role-play given character scenarios of a child (aged between 4 – 18) to be interviewed by training Child Protective Service Workers. Casting is not limited by age, body type or ethnicity ; although, actors must be 18 years of age or older due to the sensitive nature of subject material.

Trainings for Child Protective Service Workers will occur throughout Kentucky. Housing and transportation for regional trips is provided by the Blue Apple Players. Project Stipend of $900 provided per actor (for all rehearsal, travel time, and performance work) and an additional food allowance per actor per trip are provided. Project Artistic Director is Michael Drury.

Rehearsals are tentatively scheduled to begin in February/March. Actors MUST be available on April 25th, and three additional dates TBD.

Auditions will be on Monday, February 4th from 6:30pm-9:30pm at Home of the Innocents. The audition will be a group audition consisting of theatre games/exercises, role-play, and improv. Please bring a headshot/resume, if you have it.

Celebrate National Literacy Month with a Drama Workshop! Did you know that all Blue Apple Players workshops support literacy? Because drama is sharing stories through performance, we're always guiding youth on communicating the elements of literacy. Utilizing drama to support literacy skills helps reinforce education and encourages new and deeper thinking in youth. Drama also encourages empathy.

For your consideration . . .

StoryTime – PreK-3rd grade

Join in this lively, interactive storytelling program. Children participate through imagination, sound and movement. Led by two teaching artists, this session encourages active listening, comprehension and language development – all skills vital to early literacy. 30 min $100 / 40 min $125

StoryCraft – 1st – 5th grades

Bring a story to life with drama! StoryCraft builds active listening through traditional storytelling, and reinforces students' knowledge of literacy through kinesthetic drama activities. Students take on roles and create the story environment to learn foundational literary elements. This workshop is a great place to start before students begin to write their own stories. 60 min $100 / 90 min $150

StoryTime Theatre – PreK-5th grades

Our new program for large audiences. StoryTime Theatre features an entertaining 30 minute performance with whimsical props and costumes, and a 15 minute educational Question & Answer session. A fun way for students to learn about a story genre (fairytale, folktale, tall tale, etc). 2013 Title to be announced soon! Schedule your spring performance now! $500 per performance.

Theatre Workshops – 5th grade – 12th grade

Students build skills in using the tools of an actor – body, voice and imagination – through theatre games and a variety of acting techniques and exercises. Our Teaching Artists guide your students in bringing their own original ideas to drama – practicing spontaneity, creativity and collaboration. Or, pick a theme for your classroom (Example: bullying, social studies, To Kill a Mockingbird, etc). Sessions are tailored to the age of participants and focus on working as a group. One-hour, One & half hour, Two hour workshops available. Workshops are customized to your needs, and performance option available. $100 per hour.

Contact Education Director Heather Burns at heather@blueappleplayers.org or 502-587-7990.
