Paul Lenzi – Executive Director
Mr. Lenzi has a BA in Theater from Florida State University. Paul Co-Founded Blue Apple Players in 1976 with his wife, Geraldine and has directed over 100 musicals and worked in virtually every aspect of theatre administration. He has directed and performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., The Parker Playhouse in Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, and Miami Dade County Auditorium. In addition to his duties at Blue Apple, Paul serves as Chairman of the Education Committee for The Arts and Cultural Attractions Council, a division of Greater Louisville Inc.
Geraldine Ann Snyder – Artistic Director
In addition to writing and performing in nearly forty Blue Apple Players productions, Geraldine is an internationally known designer. Her work has been displayed in Newsweek, Craft Horizons, the European publication Decorative Art in Modern Interiors, Creating Modern Furniture, and Contemporary Crafts of the Americas . Her soft sculpture, Chair, is owned by the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in NYC. Geraldine was honored to be named as a recipient of the Presentation Academy Tower Award for Women Leaders in Arts and Communication.
Matilda Wells Andrews – Manager of Grants
Matilda is passionate about the power of the arts and education. Early in her career she was Director of the Louisville Science Center and director of a program at the Smithsonian, in Washington,D.C. that supported professional development and research that benefited museums nationwide. She was elected to the Board of the American Association of Museums and the International Council on Museums. As part of that professional time, a trip to Russia in the late 1970′s was most enlightening. During more than 26 years with the Blue Apple Players, she is energized by the positive change she sees happening almost daily among the students we serve. Both of her sons have been raised on Blue Apple and continue to be involved in the arts.
Annie Smith – Director of Marketing and Sales
Annie began her career with Blue Apple as an actor at the ripe age of 20. After touring for five years and performing in more than 10 shows she left Blue Apple to start a family with her wonderful husband Corey and had two beautiful girls, Izabela and Serafina. Annie really believes in Blue Apple’s mission and is super excited to be back working for them.
Annie enjoys doing voice over work in her spare time and hanging out with her family and friends.
Tim Mathistad – Musical Director
Tim has been Musical Director of the Blue Apple Players for the past fifteen years. He has appeared in over sixty professional productions across the U.S. and now resides in Louisville with his wife, Dair, and their two children, Joe and Molly.
Heather Burns – Director of Education
Heather joined Blue Apple Players in the spring of 2006. Heather is an alumna of the Governor’s School for the Arts – Drama Program, and later worked as their Administrative Intern. She graduated Cum Laude from Northern Kentucky University earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre. After graduation, Heather joined Missoula Children’s Theatre as a Touring Actor/Director working in schools and arts organizations in 16 states across the United States, personally teaching over 1,500 students (K-12th grades). In 2001, she joined the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival’s administrative staff. As the Festival’s Education Tour Manager, Heather led the administration and artist training for Shakespeare Alive!, an education outreach tour reaching 50,000 students per school year. Heather has worked in education and/or performance with the Louisville Science Center, the Frazier International History Museum, the Tourism Honors Academy and several local theatre companies in Louisville, Kentucky. She is a member of Le Petomane Theatre Ensemble, where she regularly performs in classics and ensemble-created original productions.
Jennifer Pennington – Education Associate
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre from the University of Tennessee’s International Actor Training Academy. Jennifer is a recent transplant from Los Angeles where she taught and trained with P.S.Arts, EastLA Classic Theatre, Inside Out Community Arts and Idyllwild Arts Academy. Having been an actor and educator for over 20 years, Jennifer has had the privilege to work with: Michigan Theatre Festival, Lansing Community College, Ann Arbor Public Schools, Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Shakespeare Festival, Clarence Brown Theatre, Roan State Community College, Arizona Shakespeare Festival, South Coast Repertory, Theatre Banshee, Syzygy Theatre Ensemble, The Openfist Theatre and The Elephant Theatre.
Mera Kathryn Corlett – Program Associate
Mera Kathryn began her work at The Blue Players as a member of the touring company. Prior to her time with us, she worked for Kentucky Shakespeare as a touring actor, workshop facilitator and teacher at Camp Shakespeare. Mera Kathryn has also appeared in various productions throughout the area including performances with CenterStage, Bunbury Theatre and StageOne. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, she is a proud Presentation Academy alumna. While attending Hanover College, Mera Kathryn received recognition from the schools of music and theater for her performances. Upon graduating Cum Laude with degrees in theatre and theology, she received the Henry C. Long Citation for Scholarship and General Excellence, the most distinguished award a female graduate can receive. Since childhood, she has had a passion for theatre, dance, music and education. Her work with The Blue Apple Players opens avenues for students to share the wonder of drama while learning important life lessons.
